Dear First Year Law School Student :
Diversity and inclusion are core values at Baker & Hostetler LLP. The attorneys and staff at BakerHostetler have made a long-term commitment to diversity and inclusion within our workforce and to recruiting, retaining and promoting diverse attorneys and staff at all levels. We believe that identifying candidates early in their careers is important and therefore we invite you to apply for our Paul D. White Scholarship Program. The BakerHostetler Paul D. White Scholarship is available to men and women minority law students--Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, Asian or American Indian/Alaskan Native. The scholarship award includes a paid summer associate clerkship of an equivalent annual rate of $130,000 and a $7,500 cash award. The summer associate clerkship will commence after the completion of the recipient's first year of law school and the cash award will be paid at the end of the clerkship. In appropriate cases, a summer associate clerkship may also be offered again at the end of the student's second year of law school. The following criteria may be utilized by BakerHostetler to review and select scholarship candidates: law school performance; demonstrated leadership abilities (as evidenced by community and collegiate involvement); collegiate academic record; extracurricular activities; work experience; and a written personal statement. The top scholarship candidates will be interviewed by members of the Cleveland Office Hiring Committee. If you are interested in applying for the Paul D. White Scholarship in BakerHostetler's Cleveland Office, please complete the enclosed application and forward it with your resume and personal statement to the attention of Kylie Wilhelmy, Legal Recruitment & Special Events Coordinator, BakerHostetler (PNC Center, 1900 East 9th Street, Suite 3200, Cleveland, OH 44114). All applications must be received no later than Tuesday, January 22, 2013. The scholarship recipient will be notified by the end of February.
