Jennifer Ricketts '88, Director, Civil Division, Federal Programs branch, will host a Virginia Law student/alumni networking reception at her agency in DC. This is a unique opportunity for you to mingle with Virginia alumni and other attorneys at the Civil Division, other DOJ divisions, and other federal agencies.

For those of you who (like me) dread networking receptions, don't worry! This will be an extremely friendly room and we'll have some staff from the PSC and Career Services there.  Here are the details:

Date/Time:  June 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Address:  20 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20001 (Enter the buliding on the Massachusetts Ave. side and DOJ staff  will escort everyone upstairs to Room 7400)

Directions:  The buliding is a block from the Georgetown Law Center and about 2 blocks from Union Station. Behind it are the Irish pubs the Dubliner and the Irish Times.

Position Description:

Robinson & Cole LLP seeks a first- or second-year law student for an eight-week paid internship during the summer of 2012 in our Boston office.  The R&C Summer Fellow will work closely with Robinson & Cole attorneys on a variety of matters as well as participate in client conferences, observe court proceedings, and other activities as available throughout the eight-week summer program.  The start date of the program is flexible, depending upon the availability of the student.

For consideration, please submit the following:
  • Cover letter;
  • Resume
  • Law school transcript; and 
  • A writing sample that contains substantive legal analysis and demonstrates your ability to apply legal principles to a factual situation. Writing sample should be 5-10 pages in length.

Sidley Austin LLP’s Washington, D.C. office is excited to announce the Third Annual Sidley 1L Diversity Summer Mentorship Program to be held this summer in Washington, D.C.  We encourage all diverse 1L students at UVA who would like to practice in Washington law firms after graduation and who plan to spend their upcoming summer in the D.C.-area to apply. The mentor program is expected to take place during June and July 2012.
